Born in Dublin and raised in Canada, I have always been proud of my Irish heritage.
Gifts from "the Auld Country" were rare and always treasured, none more so than a pair of silver brooches used to hold the cape on my Irish dance dress. They were my first "real jewellery" and the beginning of my love for Celtic designs!
You know, despite the high number of Irish immigrants and their decendants across Canada (and the US), I found it hard to get quality pieces of Celtic styled jewellery in the days before the internet. And when I did find them, I usually couldn't afford them, LOL!
So you can imagine my delight when I was visiting family in Ireland and an opportunity to distribute fine quality Celtic-themed jewellery that was made in Ireland fell into my lap. I had to take it, and this is the result.
I hope that in my selected offerings you find the special piece that you or someone you love will treasure as much as I treasured my first pieces of Celtic jewellery.
My Irish dance dress was similar to this. The fabric was a royal blue wool with the skirt and the underside of the cape lined with gold satin. Both the dress and the matching cape were hand embroidered by my mother.
